Free entry to Nunnington Hall this Sunday for local celebration event Nunnington Hall will open its doors for free this Sunday for their largest event of the year. The event, titled Love Local, is held annually at the National Trust property near Helmsley and is a celebration of the best of what Ryedale has to offer, helping to raise awareness and show off how brilliant the area is.

8 1/1 The annual Kirkbymoorside 10k proved as popular as ever with people attending from far and wide. Kirkbymoorside Town Brass Band started the event with musical entertainment followed by Beadlam Charity Tractor Run in aid of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. A spokesperson for Kirkbymoorside 10k, said: "The first race of the day was the children's dash - a mad race up the Main Street and back, which a whopping 99 children entered.

Pier closed after car enters sea and overturns in Scarborough (Image: Newsquest) An investigation is underway in Scarborough after a car entered the sea from Vincent’s Pier in the South Bay. The incident was reported at 7.18pm on Thursday (8 May 2025) which led to coastguard, lifeboat, fire and rescue, ambulance and police being alerted to the scene close to the Scarborough Lighthouse. The car had overturned and submerged in the water.

Groups that were awarded grants in 2024 included Brooklyn and Heslerton junior football clubs, Rillington Table Tennis Club, Ryedale Youth Theatre and Springhead School. Ten local charities are set to receive £600 from Malton and Norton Lions in their annual grant scheme.
