A drunk driver has been sentenced after a high-speed, late-night police pursuit through North and East Yorkshire. Officers from North Yorkshire Police were on the lookout for a white Astra van on Monday 17 February this year, as it had been linked to possible drink driving. A police patrol spotted it on Beverley Road, Norton, but it was driven off at speed on the B1248. More units headed towards the area, and officers eventually located it near Cowlam, heading towards Driffield.

Marcus Skeet, who lives in Norton, ran 837 miles from Land's End to John O'Groats for charity Mind. The 17-year-old, who completed his challenge yesterday (Thursday) has so far raised £111,000. Marcus set off from Lands End on April 1, on the challenge to complete the 1,600km to John o' Groats in around 60 days. He said: "It has been two of the most difficult but greatest months of my life. "I’m an emotional mess but I just want to say, no matter how dark a place you are in.

Yorkshire Lavender, based near Terrington, has applied for the change of use from general purpose agricultural barn to commercial catering facility for food preparation and supply.
