CPKC Holiday Train coming to Pingree Grove next weekPingree Grove will hold a downtown celebration from 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Nov. 27, in honor of the CPKC Holiday Train making a return stop to the village. A Chicago man has been charged with drug-induced homicide for his alleged role in supplying the narcotics that killed a 33-year-old Naperville man, law enforcement officials said. Christopher Hobson, 38, is accused of providing a fatal dose of fentanyl and alprazolam to the unnamed victim, a news release from the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office and the Naperville Police Department. The man ordered the drugs from Hobson on Feb.

An Elgin Police Department 911 dispatcher was charged with felony animal cruelty after a dead dog was discovered in the trash following her departure from a rental house in Elgin, authorities said. Samilka Lamboy-Torres, 30, was placed on administrative leave from her job after being charged, Police Chief Ana Lalley said in a statement. The animal’s death was discovered after Lamboy-Torres moved out of a Bellevue Avenue home she had rented for two years, officials said.
