Several Lubbock restaurants will donate a portion of its proceeds to the Honor Flight between Monday and Thursday, culminating in the KSSL Radiothon on Saturday at the Lubbock Elks Lodge, which will also have opportunities for you to have breakfast, burgers and participate in a silent auction.

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - The Texas South Plains Honor Flight has sent mail invitations to veterans selected for the medical clearance process ahead of the second 2024 flight in October. Veterans will be invited to the medical clearance process in August and narrowed down to 85 veterans for the flight with others going on the alternate list.

SLATON, Texas (KCBD) - At the Slaton Model Railroad Studio, visitors can go back in time. The model trains, buildings and other structures show visitors a time when Slaton was at the height of railroad life. The miniature Santa Fe rail line stretches from Slaton all the way to the New Mexico state line, taking the train through each town along the way. Dr. Robert Mamlok, the Texas Tech Model Railroad Club and many other train enthusiasts put it all together over the past several years.

SLATON, Texas (KCBD) - The Slaton Harvey House is offering guests a chance to learn about the railroad’s significant impact on Slaton, including the unique role of the Harvey House, and a chance to stay the night. “This place, it’s just amazing,” Cynthia Jones, Harvey House office manger, said. “I’m hoping more people will realize what we have here.”It was in 1989 when demolition crews arrived to tear down the Harvey House, but citizens of Slaton stood in the way.
