FAYETTEVILLE, W.Va. — For the first time in the organization’s history, a full-time Executive Director will lead the Friends of New River Gorge National Park and Preserve’s board and its fundraising efforts. President of Friends of New River Gorge NPP, Deb Lamey announced that Roy Mark Boog Ferrell Jr. has been named the first full-time Executive Director for the group that is the primary philanthropic partner of the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve.

CULLODEN, W.Va. — The Putnam County Development Authority (PCDA) is continuing to expand economic opportunities in the region– this time through the purchase of an 84,000 square foot industrial warehouse. PCDA recently announced the purchase of the industrial property. It’s located at 2301 Virginia Avenue in Culloden. The West Virginia Economic Development Authority and Putnam County Bank assisted PCDA with the acquisition of this property by collaborating their funding resources.

NITRO, W.Va. — As the pickleball sport itself continues to grow, so too does an annual pickleball tournament in Kanawha County. The third annual Metro 911 Serving for Safety Pickleball Tournament will get underway Friday and last through Sunday at the Nitro Athletic Complex. Event organizer Johnny Rutherford joined professional pickleball players Susannah Barr and Dominic Catalano on 580 Live Thursday to talk about the tournament. They both came from Boise, Idaho to participate.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — After it became a requirement on May 7th for people to start presenting what is called a REAL ID to board domestic flights, West Virginia International Yeager Airport Director and CEO Dominque Ranieri says the transition has been smooth so far. “We are so pleased that all of our passengers have taken the time to go to the DMV and get their Real ID,” Ranieri said.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The City of Charleston is becoming a work of art for five days. The 21st Annual FestivALL got underway on Wednesday and will host various art, theater, dance, and music events around the city until Sunday, June 1. Interim FestivALL CEO Brittany Javins said this is a slightly scaled back year for the longstanding festival with a return to the basics.
