SCOTT COUNTY, Mo. (KFVS) - The Scott County driver accused of hitting a kindergartner getting off a school bus sees his case bound over to circuit court. 19-year-old Brice Beussink appeared in court on Friday morning, April 4 and waived his preliminary hearing. The judge then sent the criminal case against Beussink to the circuit courtHe’s charged with a class E felony of failing to stop for a school bus receiving or dropping off children with injury.

MARBLE HILL, Mo. (KFVS) - A Marble Hill Police Officer is accused of assaulting a man while investigating a noise complaint. Marble Hill Police Chief Kristen Nenninger says they’ve terminated 60-year-old Billy VanDeven, effective immediately. VanDeven is charged with both felony and misdemeanor assault, along with misdemeanor kidnapping and misdemeanor property damage.

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - The Missouri Coroner’s and Medical Examiner’s Association is weighing in on the proposed training rule. In a statement sent to Heartland News, Association President Dan Heavin says they support the standards. Heavin calls the timing “something of a challenge” but says they have a plan in place to make sure all coroners and deputy coroners meet the new standards by the end of the year. Copyright 2024 KFVS. Cape Girardeau Representative John Voss reached out to me Monday to tell me about the proposed rule laid out by the state’s Coroner Standards and Training Commission.

BOLLINGER COUNTY, Mo. (KFVS) - An ongoing criminal investigation brings federal, state and county investigators to private property in the northern part of Bollinger County. And it appears they brought heavy equipment with them. This video from Drone12 shows you the scene just off County Road 872 west of Patton. This property is split by Grounds Creek. On one side, you can see a heavy law enforcement presence with numerous Bollinger County Sheriff’s vehicles and several other unmarked trucks.
