    MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - GiGi’s Playhouse in Madison received a tremendous donation of over $100,000 from the Alter Metal Recycling’s Southern Wisconsin Region on Wednesday. Alter Metal Recycling’s Southern Wisconsin Region raised over $54,000 for GiGi Playhouse Madison through their month-long campaign called GO Green for the Green in April. Alter Trading Corporation then matched their region’s total dollar-for-dollar, which then totaled over $108,000.

    MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - A 79-year-old man was found dead Wednesday after a tree fell onto him while he was trying to move his trapped tractor, Iowa County Sheriff’s Office reported. According to the Sheriff’s Office, just before 9:30 a.m., officials performed a welfare check at a residence on Weaver Road in the Town of Wyoming. The caller told police the man had not returned after going out Tuesday to cut logs with his tractor and chainsaw.

    MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) announced milkweed as the Rare Plant Monitoring Program’s 2025 Plant of the Year. The DNR encourages planters to grow this type of plant because it helps monarch butterflies, who rely on it heavily to survive. There are currently 13 native milkweeds in Wisconsin. Five of them are currently listed as endangered, threatened or special concern officials stated.

    MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - The case against a Cottage Grove man accused of hitting a family with his car on purpose, which killed a woman, was dismissed Tuesday in court. The charges were dropped for Jeffrey Endres who died last week in Dane County Jail. The Dane County Sheriff’s Office first reported the death around noon on May 6. First responders attempted to save his life, and he was pronounced dead at the jail.

    MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - A Madison resident was arrested after allegedly firing a gun outside a home during an argument, the Sun Prairie Police Department. According to a post by the police department, officers received several calls around noon for reports of a gunshot in the 300 block of Sweet Grass Drive in the City of Sun Prairie. An investigation shows that two people who knew each other got into an argument over social media.
