MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - The Director of the Wisconsin Office of School Safety is being honored by the Mount Horeb School District. Trish Kilpin was awarded the Annual Friend of Education Award Monday night, the district stated in a release. The district said Kilpin has been a source of strength, guidance and companion following the active shooter incident on May 1. Mount Horeb police shot and killed an armed student who they say was trying to get into Mount Horeb Middle School.

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - One production is making its way back to the Madison Opera for the first time in 12 years. “Don Giovanni” will take place on Friday, May 2 and Sunday, May 4 in Overture Hall at the Overture Center for the Arts in Madison. This production tells the story of a nobleman’s misadventures that come back to haunt him, which is shown through the compositions of Mozart. Charles Eaton is singing the title role of ‘Don Giovanni.’ He visited WMTV on Tuesday.

It was called “Wake up! and create the world we want to live in,” which was organized by 50501 Movement. MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Metcalfe’s Market is embracing Earth Day with a community tradition!Three thousand free reusable bags were given away to customers on Tuesday as part of the Little Hands, Big Impact initiative. For the last 11 years, the local grocery has partnered with 14 area elementary schools to distribute reusable shopping bags. Organizers said the bags were hand-decorated by students, who drew pictures of what Earth Day means to them.
