Rey Galindo and his nephew Jorge Sierra Galindo are back in business in Shaker Square. The former owners of Luchita’s, a long-standing Mexican restaurant in Shaker Square are opening a restaurant in early June. Different then Luchita’s and under a new name called Coyoacan Taqueria & Brew.

SANDUSKY, Ohio (WOIO) - It’s been less than two weeks since an 8-month-old puppy named Ivy endured life-saving emergency surgery after being brutally stabbed allegedly by her now former owner, Friendship Animal Protective League confirmed. “It didn’t look like a dog. She no longer looked like a dog,” said Greg Willey, Executive Director of Friendship Animal Protective League.

SANDUSKY, Ohio (WOIO) - Animal rights activist group NITROS Ohio Army stood outside Sandusky Municipal Court on Thursday. Holding up signs, they protested harsher punishments for Ohio animal abusers. Alleged animal abusers like Terry Thomas are why Mike Smeck takes his NITROS Ohio Army role so seriously. Thomas is charged under Goddard’s Law with a 5th Degree Felony charge of Cruelty to Companion Animals. He is accused of brutally stabbing Ivy, his American Pitbull. Thankfully, the puppy survived.

BEACHWOOD, Ohio (WOIO) - Peace is what the Cleveland Jewish community is asking for. At Friday’s prayer service, signs were held up saying ‘Cleveland is stronger than the hate.’ The powerful message is asking people to choose love. The Cleveland Jewish community was united in prayer. Holding on to one another as they mourn the loss of Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim. The young couple shot exiting an event at the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday.

CUYAHOGA FALLS, Ohio (WOIO) - Local communities are coming together during National Police Week. They spent the day remembering and honoring three police officers who dedicated their lives to saving others. Gary Moss, Richard Darmstadt, and Jeff Childers’ names were engraved into the Cuyahoga Falls and Silver Lake Police Memorial and Honor Guard Foundation. Their loved ones were emotional as the community joined in harmony to remember and honor the officers who are no longer with us today.
