    WAKEMEN, Ohio (WOIO) - Three high school seniors have caught the attention of their community. Without hesitation, Connor Dawson and his two friends, Drake Munroe and Morrison Dauch Munroe, jumped into action and saved a man’s life. They were coming home from a birthday party Saturday night. They were driving down Route 60 in Wakeman when another driver veered into their lane and went off the road. The car ended up in the Vermillion River.

    CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Liv’s Law officially goes into effect in Ohio Wednesday, one day after Ohio Governor Mike DeWine signed House Bill 37 into law. Liv’s Law tightens up drunken driving laws and increases penalties for drivers charged with aggravated vehicular homicide involving OVI. The bill is named after Olivia Wright, 22. Wright, known as Liv, was hit and killed by a drunk driver on Sept. 29, 2020 in Franklin County. Liv’s parents, Bryan and Teresa Wright, fought for the bill for years.

But some districts aren’t entirely sold on the idea. “It’s time to finish the job. It’s time to ban cell phones in every Ohio school. Last year, I signed House Bill 250, which required schools to implement formal policies regarding cell phones,” said DeWine.
