    LORAIN, Ohio (WOIO) - A 17-year-old male died from his gunshot injuries after being flown by LifeFlight to MetroHealth Medical Center. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner identified the victim as J’Zier Gaddy, of Lorain. Lorain Police said officers responded for a call of shots fired around 5 p.m. on Friday, April 11 in the parking lot of the 1100 block of Tower Blvd. When they arrived, a 21-year-old Lorain man was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

    CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The driver who fatally struck a seven-year-old Cleveland boy riding his skateboard will be sentenced Thursday. In March, Donald Mynatt, 33, pleaded guilty to one count of failure to stop after an accident, a 3rd degree felony, for the death of Amir Maclin.

    CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - A 23-year-old Cleveland woman pleaded guilty to setting a house on fire last December. Shamara McCoy pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated arson. As part of the plea deal, a second count of aggravated arson was dismissed. Shamara McCoy((Source: Cuyahoga County Sheriff))Cleveland Police said McCoy set fire to a home on Lamontier Avenue on Dec. 26, 2024. There were no injuries.

    CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Liv’s Law officially goes into effect in Ohio Wednesday, one day after Ohio Governor Mike DeWine signed House Bill 37 into law. Liv’s Law tightens up drunken driving laws and increases penalties for drivers charged with aggravated vehicular homicide involving OVI. The bill is named after Olivia Wright, 22. Wright, known as Liv, was hit and killed by a drunk driver on Sept. 29, 2020 in Franklin County. Liv’s parents, Bryan and Teresa Wright, fought for the bill for years.

    CANTON, Ohio (WOIO) - An 18-year-old accused of killing her brother-in-law in February was indicted by a Stark County Grand Jury. Money Baccus was indicted on the charges of aggravated murder, murder, and felonious assault. Canton Police Chief John Gabbard said around 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 12, police got a 911 call about a shooting at a home in the 1900 block of 2nd St. SW. When officers got on scene, they found Shawn Hawkins, 30, with a gunshot wound to his chest.
