LORAIN, Ohio (WOIO) - Lorain Police are investigating after officers found two people dead of “apparent” gunshot wounds in what police are calling a murder suicide. According to a release from Lorain Police, officers were called to the 200 block of W 29th Street around 10 p.m. Saturday after concerned family members asked for a welfare check. The release said Lorain Police found 63-year-old Anthony Coonrod and 31-year-old Emily Simmons dead with apparent gunshot wounds.

JACKSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WOIO) - Jackson Township Police (JTP) closed their investigation with new information on Monday after a 10-year-old brought a weapon to school and threatened another student. The Sauder Elementary third grader also made threats against the school resource officer. On Monday, JTP said in a release the 10-year-old suspect got the weapon from his grandparent’s home the morning of the incident.

AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) - Akron police say the suspect accused of shooting into a crowd and striking two people, including a teenager, has turned himself in. Bikash Tamang, 36, is accused by police of firing multiple shots into a crowd on May 3 at a party center on East Tallmadge Avenue. Officers say he surrendered at the department on Saturday and is now locked up at the Summit County Jail.

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The former Cleveland divorce attorney accused of killing his client, Aliza Sherman, over a decade ago, was arraigned via video in Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas Wednesday morning. Sherman was brutally stabbed when she went to Moore’s office on Erieview Plaza in downtown Cleveland for an appointment on March 24, 2013. Gregory Moore, 51, pleaded not guilty to the charges of aggravated murder, conspiracy, murder, and kidnapping. The bond was set at $2 million.

PAINESVILLE, Ohio (WOIO) - A suspended Cleveland Police Officer who fired a shot outside an elementary school last year during a domestic violence incident, will be sentenced in Lake County Court of Common Pleas Wednesday. In April, Alexander Sinclair pleaded guilty to kidnapping, abduction, endangering children, assault, and inducing panic. The shooting happened in the parking lot of Riverview Elementary School around 9 a.m. on Oct. 31. 2024.
