NORWALK — Through an online volunteering program, Norwalk resident Sam Aldershof is able to teach a Ukrainian citizen the workings of the English language without having to leave Connecticut. ENGin, a nonprofit group, connects English speakers with English language learners abroad for weekly video chat conversations. Aldershof, who grew up in Stamford, said it is one way he can positively contribute to life in Ukraine, which has been at war since a Russian invasion in February 2022.

NORWALK — A collection of six violins, a viola and a cello saved during the Holocaust have been restored and will be played by the Norwalk Symphony Orchestra in a Nov. 16 performance at the Concert Hall at Norwalk City Hall. WILTON — New 10-year student enrollment projections are in for the school district in Wilton, with an estimated 3,952 to 4,429 total students expected by 2034-35, up from this year's 3,699 students. At a recent Board of Education meeting, Pat Gallagher of MP Planning Group presented enrollment projections, based on birth rates, housing rates and migration rates.
Westport ZBA doubles down on illegal residential golf green

WESTPORT — Efforts to keep a golf chipping green on a residential property without a zoning permit fell flat at a recent Zoning Board of Appeals meeting. Andrew Jones, who lives on Compo Parkway, had appealed a zoning enforcement officer's refusal to issue a certificate of compliance for the green. The board voted 5-0 to reject the appeal, saying Jones and the attorney representing him, Christopher Russo of Russo & Rizio, had misinterpreted zoning regulations.
