    If you like packed sidewalks, kids in costumes and sugar-infused screams, you’ll love Halloween in New York City. There’s no need to venture inside apartment buildings: Plenty of trick-or-treating action happens on stoops or at storefronts. And while the city allegedly never sleeps, in many neighborhoods trick-or-treating starts as early as 4 p.m., and winds down as soon as it gets dark. So be sure to start early.

    “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” will take over Rockefeller Plaza in March to celebrate the NBC show’s 25th anniversary. The plaza will honor the series' main character by becoming “Olivia Benson Plaza” for two days. It will feature show-themed trivia contests, giveaways, photo ops and free coffee from La Colombe. Fans will also be able to purchase friendship bracelets and a limited-edition 25th-anniversary T-shirt. The free event will be open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis.

    Post Malone, The Killers and SZA will headline this year’s Governors Ball Music Festival, organizers said Tuesday. The festival, which is now in its 14th year, will run from Friday, June 7, through Sunday, June 9, at Flushing Meadows-Corona Park. Other performers will include Carly Rae Jepsen, Peso Pluma, 21 Savage, Tyla, and Renée Rapp, who stars as Regina in the new "Mean Girls" movie.

New York City had a flock of wild animal stories in 2023, a year that brought new meaning to the term “concrete jungle.”Some of the tales were baffling, others inspiring, and many were blatant examples of animal cruelty. There was Flaco, the Eurasian eagle-owl who escaped from the Central Park Zoo in February and defied the zoo’s attempts to lure him back.
