    City of York Council planners have recommended councillors approve a 44-home application from Barratt David Wilson Homes for the site in Dunnington, which is currently farmland. The 1.34 hectare application plot sits within more than half of a site allocated by the council for housing in its Local Plan which was adopted in February.

    2 1/1 OWNERS of a York city centre pub are celebrating the go-ahead for a second venue in a North Yorkshire coastal town. Vincent Roberts and Matthew Beddingham, co-owners and founders of Valhalla York, a Viking-themed pub in Patrick Pool, were speaking after North Yorkshire Council granted planning permission for the opening of a new pub on the site of a former ironmongers in Grape Lane, Whitby.
