LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Gabe Swansen was at the plate with the potential game-winning run on base. Unlike last week, the Huskers slugger was unable to come through. Swansen struck out to end a dramatic ninth inning during Creighton’s 8-7 win over its in-state rival. Bluejays relief pitcher Garrett Langrell put his thumb down while looking at the Nebraska dugout before celebrating with his teammates. Creighton secured the season series while holding off the Huskers’ comeback effort.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Keyan Schadwinkel etched his name in Seward history in multiple ways during the Bluejays’ 12-0 win over Fairbury. Schadwinkel, a sophomore pitcher, tossed a perfect game. Perhaps more impressively, he had the first immaculate inning in school history. He struck out the side in the fifth inning on nine pitches. Schadwinkel finished the game with 14 strikeouts. The hard-throwing righty is rated as one of the state’s top players in the 2027 class.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - For the second straight offseason, Nebraska has landed a prized quarterback recruit. Four-star prospect Trae Taylor committed to the Huskers on Thursday. The high school junior ended his highly-publicized recruitment by choosing Nebraska over LSU, Texas A&M, and Illinois. At his announcement ceremony, Taylor initially picked up an Illinois hat before taking it off to reveal a Nebraska jersey.
