NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) – New York City has seen around 10,000 fewer restaurants using outdoor dining setups since the pandemic relaxed regulations, stakeholders said at a hearing Wednesday. Outdoor dining season started on April 1 with a new set of rules adopted in 2023. As of Wednesday, 2,600 of 3,200 outdoor dining applicants have been approved to operate, including 800 that have conditional approval, according to a spokesperson for the Department of Transportation.

QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) — A family-owned hardware shop in Queens just celebrated its 100th birthday. Now, the community is honoring the generations-old business. When you walk into Bartunek Hardware in Astoria, the nostalgia is heavy. Memories are scattered throughout. Henry Bartunek, a handyman, opened the store in January 1925, running it for decades with his wife, Lilly. Their son Eddie grew up in the shop before taking it over himself with his wife, June.
