    Another (mostly) sunny spring day is in store Saturday for the Portland area, with a high near 70 degrees and light and variable wind this afternoon. Tonight, expect temperatures to fall to around 44 degrees and winds to calm after midnight, according to the National Weather Service.     Memorial Day brings a warm, partly sunny day to the Portland area, with a high of 77 degrees expected, the National Weather Service reports. Overnight in Portland, the clouds are expected to move in before a chance of rain returns Tuesday through Wednesday. Temperatures will cool off, too, with highs around 65 both days.

    Kobi Flowers was crowned Tuesday as Jefferson High School’s representative on the 2024 Portland Rose Festival Court. The Jefferson senior is considering becoming an anesthesiologist or pharmacist. At school, Flowers has participated in the Black Student Union, student government and varsity cheerleading. Rose Festival Court announcements began March 5. The additional members of the court so far are:In all, 15 students from Portland-area high schools will serve on the court.

    Central Catholic High School senior Jayda Jackson is the newest member of the 2024 Portland Rose Festival Court. Crowned Friday morning at the school, Jackson plans to pursue a career as a pediatrician. She plays both basketball and softball and volunteers at Blanchet House. Rose Festival Court announcements began March 5. The other members of the court so far are:In all, 15 students from Portland-area high schools will serve on the court.
