    The Easter bunny enlisted some Illinois Valley Community College students to complete deliveries this spring. IVCC’s Project Success Leadership Team raised funds and received contributions from the campus community to assemble 100 baskets for the Youth Service Bureau to distribute to children in its care. Thanks to campus generosity, the group collected an assortment of items ranging from stuffed animals and jump ropes to candy and coloring books.

New to the St. Charles Park District facility is Glory Days, which focuses on small-group training for those who have experience competing during their high school or college years, among others. “It’s about getting back into the swing of things,” said Dan Charak, membership services supervisor for Norris Recreation Center.

    La Salle residents looking to get rid of old, unused electronics now can register for the city’s electronics waste drop-off event from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 6, at Rotary Park, 2837 E. Fifth Road. The event is free for La Salle residents, but registration is required. Residents can sign up online at lasallerecycling.as.me and select a 15-minute timeframe in which to arrive.     Just shy of 1,000 acres adjacent to Richmond are set to become part of the Hackmatack National Wildlife Refuge, according to the nonprofit agencies that negotiated its purchase and eventual transfer to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Tamarack Farms, a 985-acre property west of Route 12 and south of Route 173, will link the McHenry County Conservation District’s Glacial Park and North Branch Conservation Area, creating a total of 5,600 acres in open land.

    To pass time during the pandemic, 14-year-old Kylee Inman of Harmony in Butler County, began riding dirt bikes on a track her father, Josh, built in the front yard. She liked riding so much that she began competing and quickly became one of the top youth motocross racers in the nation. Inman, an eighth-grader at Ryan Glover Middle School in the Seneca Valley School District, ranked first in the 2023 PAMX Spring Championship Series for girls ages 9-16 competing on a KTM brand bike in Pennsylvania.
