The National Association of Letter Carriers' annual Stamp Out HungerFood Drive, one of the largest one-day food drives in the nation, is returning for its 33rd anniversary on Saturday, May 10. Each year, on the second Saturday in May, letter carriers across the country collect non-perishable food donations from our customers. These donations go directly to local food pantries, where they are used to provide food to people who need help.

After nearly two decades of planning, the federal government will begin REAL ID enforcement next week, on May 7. Any adults without a REAL ID may run into issues. If you still have a driver's license or ID that does not meet federal standards, you won't be able to fly, even domestically. The REAL ID will also be required to enter certain federal facilities and nuclear power plants. According to the Georgia Department of Driver Services, the state is 99% compliant.

Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) Sidewalk Arts Festival returned to Forsyth Park for the 44th anniversary. SCAD students, alumni, and local high school students transformed Savannah's historic Forsyth Park into a technicolor landscape of chalk compositions. More than 800 squares that traverse the park will serve as concrete canvases for the day.

For the first time in nearly 15 years, the Chatham County jail will resume in-person visitations starting Friday. This was a promise made during the campaign by the newly elected sheriff, Richard Coleman. Sheriff's captains tell wjcl 22 that the inmates were excited to hear that they can see their loved ones face to face, rather than over the phone or video calls. Coleman emphasized that this is a detention center, not a prison, so he felt it was essential to give these inmates this opportunity.
