ST. LOUIS – A man was left dead after a shooting in north St. Louis late Tuesday night. According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD), the shooting took place around 11:30 p.m. on the 5000 block of Vernon Avenue, near N. Kingshighway Boulevard, in north St. Louis’ Academy/Sherman Park neighborhood. When officers arrived on the scene of the shooting, they found the man suffering from a gunshot wound.

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – The Meramec River is expected to crest at 28.5 feet on Tuesday, posing a significant flood risk to areas around Eureka and Valley Park. The river’s crest is predicted to be a foot and a half above the major flood stage mark of 27 feet. If the Meramec River reaches 27.5 feet, the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) warns that the northbound lanes of Highway 141 at I-44 may need to be closed for safety reasons.
