Police have charged a man during an investigation into the ignition of gas cylinders which started fires in two legal offices in Gosford. There were no serious injuries but police have called the attack "violent" and "brazen". The 66-year-old man is due to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Saturday. Police are providing an update on the continuing search for a man suspected of throwing an incendiary device into a legal office and lighting a fire in Gosford CBD yesterday. Dozens of employees were evacuated from a building on Donnison Street just after 2:30pm yesterday, with some reporting black smoke coming from the third floor. We're going live shortly on this story.

A large bulk carrier entering the world's largest coal port has not scared protesters from the water in Newcastle. About a dozen kayaks and small boats remained on the harbour on Thursday evening as two tug boats escorted the ship to the Port of Newcastle. The protesters, part of climate activism group Rising Tide, paddled into the harbour in an attempt to block the port entry.

Emergency services are resuming their search for an 11-year-old boy who was swept out to sea on the NSW Central Coast. The alarm was raised about 5:15pm on Sunday after reports a person had been spotted in rough conditions off The Entrance beach. Police said a 43-year-old father had been trying to cross the channel from the north side with his four boys aged 11, nine, seven and three. The current swept the eldest boy out into the ocean.
