Man wanted for separate case in Allen County accused of abducting 6-month-old: ISP

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) – Over the weekend, a man wanted in Allen County was caught several counties away with a 6-month-old child he did not have custody of. Shaquile Booker, 30, identified by Indiana State Police as a non-custodial parent, is accused of abducting the infant from the Plymouth area and taking the child nearly an hour away.

Crash causes traffic jam on Spy Run Avenue

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Traffic heading north from downtown Fort Wayne was backed up Friday afternoon after a crash on a busy road. Two lanes of Spy Run Avenue were temporarily shut down after a collision near the intersection with Elizabeth Street, dispatchers confirmed. The crash happened around 4 p.m.; it’s unclear when the road will reopen. While details are scarce, dispatch also confirmed two people had minor injuries. Traffic appeared to be flowing more smoothly by 5 p.m.

DEKALB COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) – On Feb. 26, baby Jaxon’s family was driving on I-69 when he suddenly started to turn blue. His mom, Sarah Flowers, called 911, and DeKalb County Deputy Aaron Long arrived minutes later to administer life-saving measures. The three-month-old went from not breathing to crying, signaling he was going to be OK. “That was one cry that I hope I can hear for the rest of my life, remembering the sound of that,” Long recalled.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Friday marks the grand opening of a bakery in Union Street Market at Electric Works. Carmeli’s Dough, operated by Chef Guy Carmeli, is the sister company of Pasta di Guy and is located right next to it in the East Hall. The shop serves fresh donuts, cinnamon rolls, bread and more baked goods. Chef Carmeli trained at Le Cordon Bleu in London and specializes in Italian-inspired cuisine.
I-69 ramps near Auburn closing for the weekend

DEKALB COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) – Two ramps on Interstate 69 near Auburn are closing Friday evening, the Indiana Department of Transportation announced. The northbound on and off ramps at Exit 326, leading to and from County Road 11A, will be shut down on or after 6 p.m. Friday until about 7 a.m. Monday, depending on the weather. INDOT advised drivers needing to access northbound I-69 from C.R. 11A to head south on I-69, use Exit 317 (Union Chapel Road) and then get back on I-69 heading north.
18-year-old charged in shooting that stemmed from fight over stolen liquor

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – An 18-year-old now faces charges in connection to a shooting from this past December. Tyshawn Chambers is charged with a Level 5 felony count of dangerous possession of a firearm as a child who has previously been convicted of being a child in possession of a firearm. He’s also charged with a Level 6 felony count of criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon. Chambers was 17 at the time of the Dec.
Fort Wayne police arrest second man charged with murder in 2017 killing

The video above shows the initial crime scene of the Aug. 3, 2017 homicide. FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The second Fort Wayne man charged with murder for a 2017 homicide was found and arrested Tuesday. Tavon Underwood, 27, was taken into custody on charges of murder, felony murder and attempted robbery in connection to a fatal shooting on Aug. 3, 2017. Underwood’s accomplice, 26-year-old Carlos Ellis, faces the same charges. He was arrested in April.

2 pets die in fire across from Leo Elementary School

ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) – Two pets died in a fire at a Leo-Cedarville home Wednesday morning. Firefighters responded to a house in the 14800 block of Wayne Street, across from Leo Elementary School, around 8:30 a.m. The flames were under control within about 20 minutes. Investigators determined the owners weren’t home at the time, but at least one dog died as well as another pet. Firefighters said two cats survived. The home was heavily damaged.
