CITY HALL — Two more alderpeople pushed through a ban of hemp shops in their Far South Side wards on Wednesday — with no objection from colleagues — as state lawmakers remain divided on what to do about the products. The ban from Alds. Anthony Beale (9th) and Peter Chico (10th) slaps a fine of up to $5,000 on any business caught selling hemp products in the “Lake Calumet Residential Area,” which covers their wards mainly in the city’s Roseland, Pullman, East Side and South Chicago neighborhoods.

LINCOLN SQUARE — A 35-year-old man has been charged with the fatal stabbing of his wife and mother of their four children in Lincoln Square. Nurmuhammed Inus, 35, is facing one felony count of first-degree murder. He stabbed and killed his 29-year-old wife about 11:30 p.m. Saturday in front of two of their four young daughters, and all of the couple’s children were in the apartment in the 2700 block of West Balmoral Avenue at the time, prosecutors said.

CITY HALL — A $1.25 million settlement proposed for the family of Dexter Reed — a man shot and killed by police after a traffic stop last year — was narrowly rejected by City Council Friday. In a 15-12 decision, the City Council’s finance committee voted against the contentious settlement negotiated by city lawyers. A vote had been delayed since February as other multimillion dollar payouts to Chicagoans seriously injured by falling trees and in police car chases were quickly approved.

WRIGLEY FIELD — The goose has left Wrigley Field, but its legend lives on in the most baseball way possible: a bobblehead. The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum announced Thursday it’s selling a bobblehead honoring the “Wrigley Goose,” a Canadian goose that made itself comfortable this weekend in a planter box in deep centerfield to watch the Cubs take two games out of three from the San Diego Padres.
