ROGERS PARK — A Far North Side beachfront eatery is reopening this weekend for the summer. Blue Jay Cafe, 1230 W. Greenleaf Ave., opens 11 a.m. Saturday, according to its social media. It’ll be open 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday through the season, which typically ends around Labor Day weekend. Like last summer, neighbors can grab beachy classics like hot dogs, french fries, sandwiches and soft serve ice cream, its menu shows. There are also vegan and gluten-free options.

CITY HALL — Housing and tenants’ rights advocates are praising the reintroduction of an ordinance at City Hall they say will help curb the effects of displacement. The Just Cause for Eviction Ordinance, sponsored by Ald. Desmon Yancy (5th), would require Chicago landlords to give a reason for terminating or not renewing a tenant’s lease, according to the legislation. It was introduced to City Council Wednesday.

ANDERSONVILLE — A prominent hospitality group is looking to open a bar in the former home of Reza’s restaurant in Andersonville. Heisler Hospitality wants to open Demijohn at 5259 N. Clark St., according to the company and the 48th Ward Office. The bar, which would also serve food, would open in the rear of the former Reza’s building; Chicago hot dog restaurant Devil Dawgs would open in the front, Block Club previously reported.

ROGERS PARK — A commercial corridor in Rogers Park has been rezoned to spur development and small business growth. The zoning changes on Howard Street between Western Avenue and Sheridan Road were approved by City Council last month, said Ald. Maria Hadden (49th), who represents the area. But the new zoning won’t physically change much about the corridor, Hadden said. It doesn’t increase the height of buildings allowed and it “barely” increases the density allowed, she said.

ROGERS PARK — A Rogers Park woman is being held in jail after she stabbed and seriously injured her 7-year-old son for making a mess in their home, according to authorities. Llovana Torres, 26, was arrested in Evanston early Saturday, hours after she attacked her son inside their apartment in the 1700 block of West Touhy Avenue in Rogers Park, according to Chicago police. Torres has been charged with aggravated battery of a child, police announced Monday.
