    Tributes have been paid to Charles O'Malley, who died following an accident in Co Mayo. Mr O'Malley, better known by his loved ones as Charles Gerry, has died at age 88 following a single-vehicle crash at Glen Clare Island. Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene on May 6 after a car entered the water at approximately 1pm. Mr O'Malley was pronounced dead at the scene. His family thanked all of those who helped following the accident.

    Garda√≠ are appealing for witnesses after a pedestrian was seriously injured in a hit-and-run involving an electronic scrambler. The woman, aged in her 60s, was struck by the e-scrambler at around 7.30pm on May 1. The driver failed to remain at the scene of the incident, which occurred at Gardiner Street, Dublin 1. ‚ÄúThe woman was conveyed to the Mater Misericordiae Hospital, and later transferred to Beaumont Hospital, for treatment of serious injuries,‚ÄĚ said a Garda spokesperson.

    A pedestrian has died after being hit by a truck in Co Roscommon on Thursday afternoon. The incident happened at the junction of the N5 and R361 at approximately 4.45pm. The pedestrian, a woman aged in her 80s, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body has since been taken to the mortuary at University Hospital Galway, where an autopsy will take place in due course. There were no other injuries reported. Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward.

    More than 100 artists have expressed their support for Kneecap and have signed an open letter in support of the Belfast trio. Fontaines DC, Annie Mac, Damien Dempsey, The Pogues, Lankum, Blindboy, Pulp, Mary Wallopers and Massive Attack are among those who have signed the letter by Heavenly Recordings – Kneecap’s record label. "As artists, we feel the need to register our opposition to any political repression of artistic freedom,” reads the letter by Heavenly Recordings.

    A former Limerick council executive has been appointed to the high-profile role of project director for the Ryder Cup 2027, which is to be hosted in Adare Manor. Tom Enright, who previously served as the first economic development director at Limerick City County Council up to 2014, has been appointed to the leading role. With this new role, the Waterford native will work alongside Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media of Ireland, Patrick O’Donovan.
