Nenagh Ormond are top of Division 1B of the AIL this evening. They made the trip to Dublin to take on Old Wesley and came away with a share of the spoils in a game which finished 22 points apiece. The north Tipp side are now on 13 points – 1 ahead of Old BelvedereIn Division 2A Cashel had a very worthwhile trip to the midlands. They were in Athlone to face Bucaneers coming away with a 43 – 0 victory. In Division 2C Clonmel played host to Dolphin of Cork.

Difficulties facing Autistic students to be highlighted at Dublin conference

An ‘As I Am’ conference in Dublin today, will explore how to knock-down barriers faced by people with autism. The charity says schools need to adapt to autistic people, rather than expecting them to adapt to schools. A number of local families have been highlighting the situation they are facing including Sabrina Kelly who has personally lobbied Taoiseach Simon Harris in a bid to secure a school place for her youngest son Josh.
The future of a discount store in Tipperary Town is uncertain

It follows a decision by An Bord Pleanala not to grant retention for a change of use of two units at Tipperary Town Retail Park on the Limerick Road. The units in the retail park on the N24 out of Tipp Town are currently occupied by Mr Price who had been refused permission by Tipperary County Council for a change of use. The site is zoned as Light Industrial under the Tipperary Town and Environs Development Plan which explicitly rules out shops and supermarkets.
Lowry questions why local GPs are not referring patients to Nenagh MAU

The Medical Assessment Unit in Nenagh is being underutilised at the moment. That’s the message which has been delivered to the Health Minister in the Dáil by local TD Michael Lowry. The Independent Deputy says staff at the facility are questioning the logic of expanding the hours given the fact local GPs do not appear to be referring patients to the MAU in Tyone but instead are sending them to UHL.
Opposition to Carrick parking plans may be taken to the EU

A group campaigning to retain parking spaces on Carrick on Suir’s main street say they will take their opposition to Europe if necessary. A number of spaces are set to be removed from the thoroughfare as part of local authority regeneration plans for the town. The Main Street Business Initiative say 27 of the 54 parking spots will be lost. Group member Bobby Fitzgerald told Tipp Today earlier that local businesses are extremely concerned about the impact it will have.
Harris: Reconfiguration has failed North Tipp

The Taoiseach says the Mid-West needs a second Emergency Department. Simon Harris was speaking on Tipp Today this morning where he acknowledged that North Tipp, Limerick and Clare has been let down since the reconfiguration of health services in the region. He also said he was keen to have St Conlons in Nenagh used a community nursing unit as soon as possible.

The Tipperary based President of the Irish Primary Principals Network says it’s not good enough that schools have to fundraise to meet their day-to-day running costs. Principal of St. Joseph’s Primary School in Tipp Town Louise Tobin says there were many missed opportunities in Budget 2025. She says the increase of €24 per pupil per year in the capitation grant was welcome.
New exhibition at Nenagh Arts Centre

An exhibition by a local artist is opening at Nenagh Arts Centre this evening. Giulia Coli will present “Countryside Dreams: a Painter’s Journey from Dublin to Nenagh” which will run until November 1st. This marks her second solo exhibition and reflects on her journey as an artist. Giulia says this new exhibition comes with exciting new challenges and opportunities for creative growth.
