In the final days of the legislative session, Gov. Patrick Morrisey says he is keeping a close eye on the state budget as well as economic development legislation – especially House Bill 2014. The bill encourages the use of coal for powering microgrids to support data centers. Morrisey says it would support President Donald Trump’s national agenda and bring both jobs and revenue to West Virginia.

November could soon be known asNational Homeless Children and Youth Awareness Month, the result of a bipartisan resolution introduced by Sen. Joe Manchin, I-W.Va., and others. More than 1.4 million students in America were homeless at some point in the last school year.

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for many portions of West Virginia. With temperatures expected to reach triple digits, a heat advisory or hazardous weather outlook will be in effect from noon until 8 p.m. Wednesday for Clarksburg, Parkersburg, Huntington, Charleston, Sutton and surrounding areas. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, heat stroke is the most serious and potentially fatal heat-related illness.
