DONIPHAN, Neb. (KSNB) - A black pickup with its lights off parked in the middle of a highway caused a four-vehicle crash in April of 2024, and now the driver has to pay restitution to the owners of the other three cars. Connor Hoffman, 33, stands convicted of four misdemeanor charges including first offense DUI, refusing a breath test, failure to stop at an accident and criminal mischief.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KSNB) - The Nebraska Supreme Court Friday ruled that a Grand Island man will stay in prison for two sexual assault crimes against a minor female. Court records show Nimrod Torres Aquino, 43, was convicted in 2023 of first degree sexual assault on a child and third degree sexual assault on a child. He was accused of assaulting a 15-year-old girl between December 2021 and February 2022. He was sentenced to 45-60 years in prison.

KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - After his client’s surprise request to withdraw from a plea deal, the attorney representing a suspect in a fatal Kearney shooting is asking the court to remove him as defense counsel. Timothy Noerrlinger of the Nebraska Commission on Public Advocacy filed his request last week in Buffalo County District Court. Noerrlinger’s request came two weeks after his client Romeo Chambers asked to withdraw from a plea bargain made with the Buffalo County Attorney.

Several homes and businesses in Broken Bow were without power during a brutally cold morning Thursday because of what was called a “catastrophic failure” at the city’s power plant. According to KSNB-TV City administrator David Schmidt told the Custer County Chief newspaper that the municipal building, the courthouse and some residences do not have electricity. Schmidt also told the Chief the cause is undetermined.
