PAYSON, Utah — One Payson Junior High School student is in police custody after bringing a gun to class. In a post on Facebook, Kevin Mecham, the principal of Payson Junior High School, wrote that students reported that one of their peers had a gun on school grounds. School administrators worked with a resource officer to quickly locate the student. The gun was taken away and secured and nobody was harmed.

SALT LAKE CITY— In November, Salt Lake City police arrested nine people in connection to driving under the influence, or DUI. According to a SLCPD news release, the DUI arrests have occurred between 12 a.m. on Nov. 3 and 7 a.m. on Nov. 10. Police say that number may go up as officials process more officer reports. The most recent arrest occurred Sunday after a 27-year-old woman was taken into custody for allegedly crashing her vehicle into a house.

SALT LAKE CITY — A person was shot by U.S. Marshals and taken to a hospital Monday, as he attempted to flee from law enforcement officers. According to preliminary information, the Marshals were acting as part of a fugitive task force. There is a heavy police presence in the area of 2100 South and Lincoln Street, in the Sugar House neighborhood near a Smith’s grocery store and Burt Brothers tire shop. The person shot was taken to a hospital but that person’s condition is not currently known.

VERNAL, Utah — A 16-year-old girl was injured after she fell off the hood of a vehicle and was trapped underneath it Monday. Two 16-year-olds were riding on the hood of a vehicle in the Terra Academy Charter School parking lot, according to a Facebook post from the Vernal Police Department. An 18-year-old student of the school was reportedly driving. Both 16-year-olds slipped off the front of the vehicle’s hood, “resulting in one of the juveniles being trapped under the vehicle,” police said.
