BOWLING GREEN, Mo. — Police Chief Ty Bounds, who stirred controversy here this year alleging a local sheriff's deputy might have helped cover up a death, has resigned. Bounds resigned by email on Monday, effective immediately, officials said. Jim Arico, the mayor of the northeast Missouri town, said Bounds didn't cite a reason for his departure. "He did a good job for us," Arico said. Bounds' attorney, Christopher Lozano, confirmed that Bounds had resigned but didn't comment further.
