Passenger numbers on Brittany Ferries jumped 12% in 2024 while freight volumes between Ireland and France surged 73%, the company announced on Monday. The ferry operator said consolidated turnover rose to €516m in 2024, up 6.5% on the 2023 figure. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) was slightly down at €46.8m, compared with 2023 (€53.3m), partly due to effects of the ETS emission trading scheme, the introduction of which cost the company €8m.

Almost 70% of Irish employees say that wellness is now a more important consideration for them in the workplace but one in three workers believe line managers aren't adequately trained to prioritise these needs. Research published by Ibec on Monday shows a shift in attitudes towards workplace wellbeing. Around 28% of employees say they have observed increased investment and focus on wellbeing from their employers, with another 30% noting a moderate rise in efforts.

Pub spending surged in Ireland jumped 160% on the Sunday of St Patrick's weekend, while overall spending is up 10% across all sectors, figures analysing March spending reveal. The St Patrick’s Day festivities led to busiest day of the year so far for pubs, with spending on Sunday, March 16th - the day before St Patrick’s Day, according to the AIB Spend Trend for March 2025. AIB customers spend €5.4m in pubs that day, the bank said, up 160% compared to the average day in March.
