OGDENSBURG — The city is moving forward with obtaining recovered sandstone from the demolition of dilapidated and abandoned buildings at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center grounds. On Tuesday, the City Council authorized City Manager Fonda Chronis to enter into an access and indemnification agreement with the state Office of Mental Health to have city employees enter the psych center property and retrieve “construction debris” or sandstone bricks from the demolition site.

OGDENSBURG — A defamation lawsuit against the city of Ogdensburg, its former mayor and city manager, has finally been settled. The lawsuit, filed in October 2022 in state Supreme Court, was brought forth by Gerald Mack, a retired firefighter. City officials said that a $30,000 settlement was reached with Mack, which he confirmed on Wednesday. Mack said that he considers the ordeal to be over, but declined further comment.

OGDENSBURG — If the City of Ogdensburg decides to submit an application for the next round of the state’s Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) funding, it will take a look at all of its options and decide whether the Marina District will be the focus once again. The DRI program, in its eighth round of funding after launching in 2016, recently awarded $10 million to Malone.
