CLEVELAND — The federally funded child development program Head Start that operates in Cleveland and across the country is reportedly losing money, and under the current Trump administration, some fear it could be forced to shut its doors. At first glance, Step Forward in Cleveland appears to be just another preschool, but amid the noise on the playground is the Heat Start program, which serves some of the neediest children and families in Cuyahoga County.

CLEVELAND — Dozens of federal workers, union leaders and supporters rallied outside the federal building in downtown Cleveland Thursday, pushing back against the Trump administration’s efforts to reduce the size of the federal government. Union leaders who organized the event represent thousands of federal workers including air traffic controllers, postal workers, and Veteran Affairs care staff. In recent days, thousands have been fired across federal agencies around the country.

CLEVELAND — With impending tariffs set to take effect on China, Mexico and Canada in the coming days and weeks, economists and a supply chain expert warn consumers will likely “bear the burden” of the tax. Imposing tariffs on exports isn’t new, of course. President Trump imposed tariffs on some goods from China in 2018 and the Biden administration kept them in place. CLEVELAND — In the first hours of his second presidential term, President Donald Trump signed dozens of executive orders, including one on birthright citizenship that opponents argue directly contradicts the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. For decades, birthright citizenship has been automatic — anyone born in the U.S. is a citizen, no matter their parents’ immigration status. But President Trump’s executive order questions whether the 14th Amendment actually guarantees that citizenship.
