The Southwest Freeway will be closed both ways at the 610 West Loop again starting Friday at 8 p.m. The closure is part of a six-year highway project that involves interstates 69 and 610, some of the busiest roadways in Texas. The project includes knocking down old overpasses and building new ones that will help facilitate traffic movement. Danny Perez is the public information officer for TxDOT's Houston District. He said construction, which started in 2018, is reaching its end.

The ongoing I-610 West Loop/I-69 Southwest Freeway project will bring more major road closures this weekend. The Texas Department of Transportation will close all north and southbound lanes of the Southwest Freeway at the I-610 West Loop beginning Friday at 8 p.m.Several ramps will be closed off to facilitate construction, and further details about specific closures can be found here.

The Woodlands now controls more than 200 acres of land, including the region's waterway, thanks to deals with a property developer. The Woodlands Township Board of Directors approved a deal last Thursday between the township and the Howard Hughes Corporation, a property developer.

This week saw a spike in gas prices, as the national average increased by 8 cents a gallon and Texas saw an average increase of 19 cents per gallon. According to experts, global economic factors are largely to blame. Saudi Arabia-based OPEC, along with Russia, announced plans to slash output by 5 million gallons a day through the end of July. This cut in global supply was an attempt to offset an expected decrease in demand from China.
