The spring’s unseasonable chill will give away to a warmer week, with temperatures reaching into the 80s in some parts of Long Island by midweek, the National Weather Service forecast Monday. This week, for the first time in a while, the highs in the region will be "close to normal," the weather service said. And in the New York City area, by mid to late week, temperatures will steadily climb to be 7 to 10 degrees higher than is normal.

Handing the Trump administration a second straight day of losses against its promise to end congestion pricing, a judge ruled this week that New York must be allowed to indefinitely keep tolling drivers below 60th Street in Manhattan. That means a continuation of the toll — $9 a day for most drivers — that the MTA says has reduced traffic speeds and is helping fund $15 billion in transit infrastructure.

A Mastic Beach man was arrested on Thursday morning for allegedly pushing someone onto the subway tracks near Jamaica Station last week, the NYPD said. Arrested and charged with assault was 30-year-old Joshua Massaro, the NYPD said in a news release. The victim, a 39-year-old man, was pushed on May 22 at 4:40 a.m. onto the southbound tracks of the E train at the Sutphin Boulevard and Archer Avenue stop, which is near Jamaica. He was hospitalized in stable condition. His name wasn't disclosed.
