A warrant has been issued for the arrest of the parents of a 3-year-old who died earlier this month, according to the Canton Police Department. On May 5, officers responded to Gilbert Circle NE for a report of a child found in his bed not breathing, police said. The 3-year-old was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A warrant was obtained for his parents, Demetres Givens, 42, and Jamie Thompson, 37, police said.

Sunday marks one year since Euclid Police officer Jacob Derbin was killed in the line of duty, and the Euclid Police Department will have its flag lowered to half staff in honor of him. On May 11, 2024, Derbin was shot during an ambush while responding to a disturbance at a home in the 300 block of East 211th Street just before 10 p.m.The officer was transported to University Hospitals, where he died from his injuries.

A 52-year-old man is dead after a stabbing occurred in Akron, according to the Akron Police Department. Around 8 p.m., officers responded to the 1600 block of Cromwell Drive for a report of a stabbing, police said. Upon arrival, they located the man who suffered from critical injuries. The man was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries, police said. The person who allegedly stabbed the man is known to the victim and fled the scene, police said.
