The City Council has filed a lawsuit to block Mayor Eric Adams from allowing federal immigration authorities to open an office on Rikers Island. The suit, lodged in Manhattan Supreme Court Tuesday, accuses the mayor of engaging in a “quid pro quo” with the Trump administration. Adams, it claims, promised to allow U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement back onto Rikers to get his federal corruption case dismissed.
