Donate Life New York State and Kinney Drugs launched Donate Life Rx on Friday. Donate Life Rx is a partnership between the non-profit and the pharmacy to increase tissue donation rates. Kinney Drugs will lead the effort with a day of action across its nearly 100 stores in New York State and Vermont. The launch coincided with Donate Life Month, which is April, to bring awareness to organ donation and its importance to saving lives.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The songs of a Syracuse native and one of the greatest songwriters of all times will be front and center this weekend as The Syracuse Orchestra celebrates the music if Jimmy Van Heusen. He was born in Syracuse in 1913 as Chester Babcock but took on the stage name Jimmy Van Heusen and went on to write songs for some of the most iconic singers in history. This weekend's performance will be led by Syracuse native Sean O'Loughlin, Principal Pops Conductor for The Syracuse Orchestra.

ALBANY, N.Y. — A ban on cell phones in schools is one step closer to becoming a reality in New York. On Tuesday, Democratic governor Kathy Hochul laid out her vision to get cell phones out of K-12 schools. She wants to amend State Education Law to make it happen. It's drawing praise from groups like Common Sense Media which says it's good for students and their families. The group is urging state lawmakers to support it.
