A west Lethbridge playground is getting a major upgrade. The Mt. Blakiston Park play area was installed in 1999. Now that it has come to the end of its life cycle, it is getting an update. The new outdoor play zone will have activities designed for kids ages two through 12. The agency says while strong wind gusts are the primary threat, residents should also watch for heavy rain and possible hail. The rainfall could impact visibility and conditions on roads, with drivers advised to take caution when behind the wheel. Additionally, damage to roofs, fencing and other property is possible.

The bikes will be tuned up later this month. BikeLane in Lethbridge is teaming up with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lethbridge and District to get more kids out on two wheels. Owner Mathew Hellawell says on Saturday, May 24, BikeLane will be doing 20 free tune-ups for kids involved with the local non-profit.

Nine players were chosen by the Lethbridge Hurricanes as part of the 2025 Western Hockey League Prospects Draft. The club’s selections include five forwards, three defenseman and one goaltender. The Hurricanes did not hold picks in the first, second or third rounds going into the draft, but acquired the 54th overall selection from Victoria in exchange for the 73rd pick and a fourth-round selection in the 2027 draft. The ‘Canes selected defenseman Liam McFadden with that acquired pick.

The Lethbridge Hurricanes are bidding farewell to forward Cameron Norrie. The 2007-born forward was selected by the Penticton Vees in the 2025 WHL Expansion Draft. The 17-year-old was undrafted in the WHL Prospects Draft and signed by the Lethbridge club in 2024. In 56 regular season games during his rookie season, he scored three goals, dished out five assists, and recorded 14 penalty minutes through the 2024-25 season. Norrie also skated in five playoff games.
