Bridget Brown, the former treasurer of the Essex County Agricultural Society and Willsboro town clerk, has pleaded guilty to stealing nearly $90,000 from the organization that runs the Essex County Fair and the town.New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli said Brown served as the treasurer for the Essex County Agricultural Society and previously worked as the Willsboro town clerk.

The Burlington Police Department is looking into a report of gunfire in the Old North End. Police said they received a call about gunfire following an argument in the area of North Champlain Street and Sherman Street on Monday morning. None of the people involved in the gunfire where there when police arrived on scene. However, they did locate ballistic evidence nearby. No one was injured, and police said they believe this was an isolated incident.

The Burlington Police Department is looking for the person responsible for robbing a downtown grocery store last week.Police said a person robbed Jake's ONE Market on Winooski Ave. just before 8:30 a.m. on May 19.Investigators said the suspect handed a threatening note to the cashier and fled the store with cash. They were seen fleeing the area on a bicycle.Surveillance photos from the scene show a person wearing a black coat and hood with a black face mask.

Crews are responding to a fire at a popular restaurant in Malone.Franklin County Emergency Services confirmed that there was a fire a King's Wok Buffet on Route 11 Wednesday morning.Officials were notified about the fire just before 10 a.m.Fire officials said there were no injuries from the fire. At this time, investigators are still working to assess the scope of the damage.

Gun violence is on the decline in New York State.Gov. Kathy Hochul's office reports that the state saw record low shootings in 2024. Additionally, the state has seen a 9% drop in shootings since the beginning of 2025. That also includes a 15% drop in shooting victims compared to the same period last year.According to the report, violent crime outside New York City has also reached its lowest level in five decades.
