Dayle Ross had begun doing postseason workouts in the spring with teammates on the St. Cloud State women's hockey team when she heard something troubling. "I was a little bit worried because I heard clicking in my knee," Ross said. "I thought it was something like my patella tendon is torn or there was some cartilage floating around. You never know. "I reached out to my trainer and asked if I could get an MRI. It showed that it was a torn ACL and didn't figure it would be that extreme.

CLOUD — St. Cloud State women's hockey head coach Brian Idalski has been named the first head coach of Professional Women's Hockey League expansion team, PWHL Vancouver, the league/organization announced on Monday. "We are excited for Brian and his future in the PWHL," St. Cloud State Director of Athletics Holly Schreiner said in a news release. "It is always great to have Husky connections at that level.

CHASKA — The championship game of the Minnesota State High School Baseball Coaches Association All-Star Series went extra innings on Saturday, June 21 at Chaska Athletic Park. The South scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth to beat the North 11-10 in the series for recently graduated players. The South had four players from the area play in the game. Sartell's Brayden Simones started at third base and was 0-for-1 with a walk, a strikeout and a run scored.

On Tuesday, June 17, Nate Schmidt became the first native of St. Cloud and first former Fargo Force player to win the Stanley Cup. Schmidt, a 33-year-old defenseman, helped the Florida Panthers defeat the Edmonton Oilers 5-1 in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals in Sunrise, Florida. With the win, the Panthers won the series, 4-2. Schmidt isn't the only former Force player with ties to the Panthers, however.

After the season ended for the St. Cloud State volleyball team in December, Kenzie Foley decided she wanted to keep playing. In NCAA Division I, there is indoor beach volleyball. Foley graduated from SCSU with a degrees in finance and data analytics and then transferred to Central Arkansas. Going from the court to sand volleyball had some challenges. "In beach, it's so much harder because you're digging into the sand," Foley said.
