    MEXICO, NY – Runners sped through the quiet streets of Mexico, New York on the morning of Sunday, September 17, enjoying the competitive tradition of the annual Cider Run 5K road race. The racers enjoyed comfortable temperatures under partly sunny skies as they made a lap of several of the Village’s side streets, while volunteers from the Mexico Volunteer Fire Department and several local Police Agencies managed the crossings of more heavily traveled roads.

    The Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office received multiple 911 calls at approximately 5:40 pm on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, regarding a semi that drove off a bridge over Goddard Creek southwest of Fort Atkinson on Highway 24. The semi overturned and caught on fire. The accident resulted in fatal injuries to the driver, Kyle NcNeil, age 33, of Waterloo, Iowa.

    The Richland County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an apparent murder-suicide after two Madison women were reported missing Sunday night by a family member after they failed to return home after a hike at Devil’s Lake State Park. A phone ping was conducted and allowed a deputy with Richland County to locate the vehicle in the Smith and Cruson Slough DNR land, just off of US Hwy 14, near Lone Rock. The deputy located two females dead inside the vehicle.
