AbstractGenome-wide association studies (GWASs) may help inform the etiology of infertility. Here, we perform GWAS meta-analyses across seven cohorts in up to 42,629 cases and 740,619 controls and identify 25 genetic risk loci for male and female infertility. We additionally identify up to 269 genetic loci associated with follicle-stimulating hormone, luteinizing hormone, estradiol and testosterone through sex-specific GWAS meta-analyses (n = 6,095–246,862).

AbstractMetabolic dysregulation, including perturbed glutamine–glutamate homeostasis, is common among patients with cardiovascular diseases, but the underlying mechanisms remain largely unknown. Using the human MESA cohort, here we show that plasma glutamine–glutamate ratio is an independent risk factor for carotid plaque progression.

AbstractGenome-wide association analyses using high-throughput metabolomics platforms have led to novel insights into the biology of human metabolism1,2,3,4,5,6,7. This detailed knowledge of the genetic determinants of systemic metabolism has been pivotal for uncovering how genetic pathways influence biological mechanisms and complex diseases8,9,10,11.
