DARIEN — The gathering place for generations of veterans will soon honor a local hero's service with a brand new name. On May 13, members of Darien’s Veterans of Foreign Wars voted to rename the historic building at 205 Noroton Ave. to the Brian R. Bill Memorial Post 6933, as a tribute to Bill, a Navy SEAL who was killed in action in Afghanistan. NEW CANAAN - Visitors looking to take a trip to New Canaan may not have to spend their nights sleeping in neighboring Stamford or Norwalk. The New Canaan-based Windward Development Inc. is proposing a new four-story hotel on Locust Avenue, along with a restaurant and retail or office space. Developers would convert two buildings at 49-51 Locust Ave. and 39 Locust Ave., an office suite and the Board of Education building that has since served as the New Canaan Police Department's temporary home.
