Peoria, IL (WMBD) – Summer is on the way and severe weather is still hanging out in central Illinois. Your Local Weather Authority talks storm coverage and hot weather safety. We started off in the not so distant past with the Ingersoll Scout Reservation tornado in 2021. An EF-1 touched down overnight and was on the ground for about ten miles. Thankfully, there were no injuries from this overnight storm.

Peoria, IL (WMBD) – We’re now into the middle of June which means the type of storms we tend to see in changing. Your Local Weather Authority sat down to talk about derecho climatology along with hot car safety tips. This Day in Weather History looked back at June 1981 at a tornado that took an 80 mile path from Tazewell to Champaign county. The final rating was an F1, but it’s likely that this was multiple funnels being spotted across the long path. Our next stop is June 1976 in Lemont, IL.

Molly, the cat not the meteorologist, is about a year old so not much of her history is known. She is one of many cats and kittens up for adoption with PCAPS.

She’s missing most of her ears and her tail had to be amputated due to an infection. Even with all that, she’s still very affectionate and ready to be adopted now that she’s healed up.
