MOLINE, Ill — The National Weather Service has lost more than 600 staff members across its 122 offices nationwide, and experts say the staffing shortage is starting to impact the accuracy of weather forecasts. “Normal staffing at Davenport is 24, and I believe right now they’re down to 14,” said Ray Wolf, who retired from the Quad Cities National Weather Service office in 2022 after 31 years as the science and operations officer.
