New York City Parks officials said they were able to hire more lifeguards this summer compared to last summer. The department told News 12 there were 930 lifeguards staffed at city beaches and pools this season, up from last year's high of 850 lifeguards but still short of being fully staffed at 1,000 lifeguards. According to city data, this summer has been the deadliest in five years with six drownings at city beaches, including two at Coney Island Beach.

" The mother of a 3 year-old autistic and non-verbal toddler is calling for accountability after her son was left on a bus for three hours this week. "I haven't slept in three days. All I can think about is what could have happened to my son," said Moesha Samuel. Samuel said she put her son on the bus near the front early Tuesday afternoon, and was notified about three hours later by L&M Bus Corporation her son, Maqurie, never made it to his early intervention program in East New York.

A vacant and forgotten lot on the waterfront in the South Bronx had been transformed into a space to barbecue, play and enjoy the outdoors. A ribbon cutting Monday officially marked the opening of this 2.8-acre extension to Mill Pond Park. It has a new playground and a spray shower so kids can beat the heat. There is also an adult fitness area and new barbecue pits.

A group rallied outside the office of two people that they say are stealing homes from Black and brown Brooklyn residents. They marched down Guernsey street in Greenpoint on Friday hoping to confront the two brothers they say are victimizing minority homeowners - Elliot and Joseph Ambalo. The group is comprised of part of a coalition of deed theft victims and their allies. Many of these deed theft victims say they were targeted by the Ambalo brothers who list themselves as real estate developers.

Imagine owning a multimillion-dollar brownstone in Bedford-Stuyvesant, then learning one day someone illegally sold it right from under your feet. "They gave me a letter for 10 days and told me I had 10 days to move,” said Carmella Charrington, Bed-Stuy resident. Charrington said in January, she was served that notice to vacate her Bed-Stuy brownstone. She said is partially owned by her father and has been maintained by her family since the death of her aunt.
