Nancy CutlerRockland/Westchester Journal NewsRYE BROOK - The BRIDGE School hosted a mother-and-child reunion on April 9, when U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Audrea Dash-Goodman surprised her 6-year-old son, Jonah, in his class. Dash-Goodman had returned home from a seven-month deployment in the Middle East. Her mother, Delores Dash, who has been taking care of Jonah, was also there. Dash-Goodman has been in the Air Force for nearly three years. "This is crazy," said Delores Dash.

The Palisades Center megamall took another knock in its effort to fend off foreclosure, with a state judge appointing a referee to figure out details of what the mall's lenders are owed and how the mall could be sold. In an April 9 ruling, state Supreme Court Judge Frances Kahn III granted summary judgment for Wilmington Trust, which held the $418.5 million loan the mall's owners took out in 2016.

"There's a lot of frustration," Rockland BOCES spokesperson Scott Salotto said. Many kids already have testing anxiety, and delays two days in a row can shake confidence. A computer program glitch has, so far, foiled two days' worth of statewide standardized tests for grades 3-8. The state blamed the testing vendor.

A former North Rockland High School counselor has been charged with misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child, related to allegations of an inappropriate relationship with a high school student. Sylvia Cooley of Garnerville was arraigned Tuesday, April 8, in Nyack Village Court. She was a clinician at North Rockland High School at the time of the alleged incident, officials said, but is no longer in the district's employ.
