MYRTLE BEACH — The World's Largest Rubber Duck arrived to Myrtle Beach just as quickly as it left. After being inflated to a six-story height on May 8 in the Burroughs and Chapin Pavilion, the duck had to be taken down early Saturday due to a tear in the inflatable caused by high winds. The duck was scheduled to be up through Sunday, May 11, to teach about the importance of water safety, but organizers quickly took it down and deflated it after the unforeseen weather malfunction.

LORIS — A 52-year-old man was found dead inside a kangaroo and wallaby enclosure at a home in Loris late Friday evening. Horry County officers believe it to be an animal-related death. The incident occurred off Highway 746, and the deceased, Eric State, was a relative of the animals' owner, according to a Horry County Police Department Facebook post. Animal incidents are not unusual in Horry County or South Carolina, which has some of the country's loosest restrictions on exotic pets.

MYRTLE BEACH — Ocean Boulevard's pull is strongest on Friday and Saturday nights. Crowds fan out over the city's main drag searching for Henna tattoos, shot glasses or maybe a footlong chili dog from Peaches Corner. For decades, the boulevard has been the epicenter of summer life here, drawing tourists to the most recognizable section of Myrtle Beach. But for the last two years, the boulevard's peak season has seen a heavy police presence.

MYRTLE BEACH — Travelers flying out of Myrtle Beach International Airport will have two new destination options through Breeze Airways. For $59, they will be able to take a one-way flight from Myrtle Beach to New Orleans, according to a news release from the airline. A one-way flight to Rochester, N.Y., will be available for the same price. The New Orleans service begins in September while the Rochester flights start in October.

PAWLEYS ISLAND — Captain Robert Orr spotted an unusual fin last week. The owner of Fish Finder Fishing Charters in Murrells Inlet was taking a family on an excursion when a young great white shark crept up to the boat about five miles off the coast of Pawleys Island. "While we were out fishing on a beautiful day, it came swimming by to come check us out," Orr said. "The kids were super excited to see such a big shark.
