    MYRTLE BEACH — Just over a week after news broke that local authorities had reopened an investigation into a wheelchair-bound man's 2021 death, the Myrtle Beach Police Department confirmed the case has been closed once again. Chris Skinner, a 41-year-old quadriplegic father of twins, drowned on Sept. 6, 2021 in a community pool. Skinner became paralyzed in his early 20s. He was known for his dedication to faith and family.

    GEORGETOWN — A truck driver working at Santee Cooper's Winyah Generating Station was killed in an accident there March 26, authorities said. William Whitnauer, 45, was identified as the deceased truck driver, according to the Georgetown County Coroner's Office. Few details have been released about what happened, but Georgetown County Sheriff's Office spokesman Jason Lesley said this was a vehicle accident and referred questions to the S.C. Highway Patrol.
