SIOUX CITY -- For families who visited a loved one's grave during Memorial Day weekend, it was likely a quick experience. Drive to the the grave site, leave some flowers or other decorations and spend a few minutes remembering the person buried there. For those who maintain Sioux City's three city-owned cemeteries, weeks were spent getting them in tip-top shape to welcome the hundreds of visitors who come to visit the graves of relatives and friends.

SOUTH SIOUX CITY — It sometimes seems as though there are a million discarded plastic shopping bags blowing around, tumbling down the streets and catching in trees. Drivers in South Sioux City soon will be driving over a couple million of those bags without even knowing it. A currently unpaved section of Foundry Road along Siouxland Freedom Park will be Nebraska's first-ever plastic road when it's paved in coming weeks.
