Odilon Dominguez acquired his nearly four years ago and has turned three blighted acres along U.S. Highway 20 into a unique gathering spot that gets second glances from passing motorists who must wonder what exactly this place is. SIOUX CITY — Some mornings, Ashley Bond's daughter wakes up and forgets what happened. Then reality sinks in, she remembers her mother died in a car crash more that two years ago and her heart breaks all over again. "Since the accident, everything feels different. ... I feel sad when I see other kids with their moms because I don't have mine," the girl said in a victim impact statement read by Abby Black before the man who was driving the car in the fatal crash was sentenced to prison.

SIOUX CITY -- Sioux City police are investigating an early Thursday stabbing that left a man in critical condition at a hospital. Officers were dispatched at 3:03 a.m. to 836 18th St. for a report of a stabbing. According to a Sioux City Police Department news release, officers found a man suffering from stab wounds to his upper body. Officers and paramedics provided life-saving aid to the victim before he was transported to MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center.

OMAHA — Despite a month of normal runoff into the Missouri River above Sioux City, the yearly forecast continues to drop. Thanks to heavy rainfall in western and central North Dakota and South Dakota, runoff into the upper Missouri River basin was 3.4 million acre-feet (MAF) in May, matching the average level. But other factors led the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to reduce the 2025 forecast by 0.3 MAF to 19.7 MAF, 77% of average. The annual average is 25.7 MAF.

OMAHA -- A Winnebago, Nebraska, woman who killed another person in her home was sentenced Thursday to 25 years in federal prison. In February, a federal jury in Omaha found Michelle Marr, 49, guilty of second-degree murder and tampering with documents or evidence. According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Marr requested an ambulance March 12, 2022, when reporting the victim, identified by the initials J.G., was not waking up.
